Here’s a list of the upcoming training sessions for the week commencing 06/05/2024.
 
A reminder as is traditional for a Bank Holiday there is no official scheduled club training tomorrow.
 
Tuesday sees the next race of the Summer Booths/DRL League at Cromford with a testy little race, expect an out and back course of 5.5miles with a mile ascent.
 
There is also the next edition of the Community 5K Handicap on Wednesday so all in all a busy week of racing and events…. just how we like it!
 
The club runs on Thursday if not attending the fell run will leave from Holmebrook Valley Country Park at the visitors centre to allow some variations in the routes.

Tuesday, 07th May 2024 @ 19:30 – Race 2 Summer League Cromford

Free to enter, no race number required just turn up on the evening wearing your club vest.

Hosted by Matlock AC this is the 2nd race of the Summer Booths/DRL League.

There is a pay & display Car park at Cromford Meadows, best to have cash and card available.

This is a testy little race, expect an out and back course of 5.5miles with a mile ascent.

 

Friday, 17 May 2024 @ 19:30 – No Walk in the Park 5k Summer Series (NDRC Hosted Race)

First of the 4 race NDRC & Run Forest Summer Series. Race will start at 7.30pm and numbers collected on the night from 6pm.

Again this will be ran on the same course as the current ?No Walk in the Park? 5k (also hosted by NDRC)

The course has been officially measured and takes place on the paved paths around Queen’s Park. It’s a multi-lap event of undulating nature.

The race format will be a 4 race series, having to complete 3 out of the 4 to be in with a chance of taking home the prizes. this will be an average time over the 3 qualifying events There will be prizes for the overall winners, both Male and Female and for the winners of each of the following age category’s.

V35 /V40 / V50 / V60 + again both Male & Female

Cash prize of £50 for any Male or Female breaking the current course records.

Current records are;

Male is 00:15:18

Female 00:17:03.

Wednesday 08th May

The second in a series of six of 5k handicap races. Race number collection is at Chester’s Den from 6pm on the evening of the race. Cost is £2 and all funds go to the Community Trust to be paid on the night.

As this is a handicap race you must register for a time to be allocated and registration closes at 6:30pm on the evening before.

The race is held by NDRC and CANNON EVENTS and sets off at Sheepbridge, running back to the football stadium. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female to those who have run in the previous race (your first race is for you handicap time).

Anyone can win, it is not the fastest time!! Please give it a try!!

Thursday 09th May

Fell Run – 2 Hob hursts fell run, please meet at 18:15pm for a 18:30pm start, Beeley Village hall, Devonshire Square, Beeley, Matlock DE4 2NZ.

The pub is the Devonshire Inn afterwards!

Depending on weather conditions you may need to bring waterproof clothing and a change of dry clothes for afterwards. It is also advisable to wear trail shoes if you have them, or trainers with a good grip.

5k/5M/7M+ Groups – Holmebrook Valley Country Park – The groups will meet at Holmebrook Valley Country Park at the visitors centre, please meet between 6.15pm and 6.30pm.

Once there on the night it’s free for club members to decide if they would like to run the 5K/5M/7M+ routes provided.
