Community 5k Handicap

Usually held on the second Wednesday of every month during the spring and summer, the 5k Community Trust race is a handicap run with the slower runners starting first, giving everyone a fair chance at winning a trophy. The race is £2 to enter and sets off at around 6.30pm from Sheepbridge Trading Estate and running back to CFC’s stadium, just off Sheffield Road. Registration is a must, the link will be posted in advance and closes 24 hours before.

The joint venture between North Derbyshire Running Club and Cannon Events aims to raise funds for Chesterfield FC’s Community Trust. In 2022 we successfully raise over £300

There are trophies awarded for the male and female 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, which are kept for the month and returned for the next race. For first time runners we have ‘guides’ available and the first race of the season or the first race you run will be for your qualifying time.

The route is the same one used as the original race that began in 2012, although it finishes just outside the stadium. The course is very fast and slightly downhill.

Twigg Handicap 10K

The Twigg Handicap is a NDRC members’ only race, and is open to all. It is a handicap format, meaning that runners will be given start times according to their ability. The race is won by the first to cross the line and not the fastest time.
Entries are now being taken for the Twigg 10k (ish) run which is part of the Club Challenge and is held at Holmebrook Valley Park. Changing and showers will be available at Holmebrook.
If you are not going to run but can help out then please volunteer as we will require some course marshals and helpers.
There is usually a post race buffet at the Olde House where the presentation of the Twigg Trophy is made.
This is a long-standing NDRC tradition and whether running or marshalling, a great opportunity to be involved in the social aspect of the club.
Next event: Friday 13th August
